AN embarrassing 21-2 defeat to Venezuela saw Guyana crash out of the South American Youth Games 3X3 basketball championship in Santiago, Chile yesterday.

Guyana had suffered an antagonising 11-13 loss against Ecuador the previous day, and had hoped to win considerably against the Venezuelans, but, luck was not on their side.
Nigel Bowen, Isaiah Hintzen, Akeem Crandon and Shamar France were out-played by their South American rivals, and in some cases, overpowered.
Hector Bolivar had a monstrous game for the Venezuelans, scoring 11 points, while Enderson Alcala was their next top scorer with four points. Omar Santana and Emir Gordillo each had three points in the win.
For Guyana, Bowen and France were the only players to register on the scoresheets.
Guyana will now be spectators for the rest of the competition. The quarter-finals will be played today. The semi-finals and final will be contested tomorrow. (Rawle Toney)
