Remanded on gold jewellery theft charge

LEON Murray, 30, was on Monday remanded to prison by Magistrate Judy Latchman, after he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, charged with simple larceny.It is alleged that the defendant on December 26, 2016, at Castello Housing Scheme, Georgetown, stole two gold chains valued $115,000, two gold rings worth $ 120,000 and one gold and silver band worth $15,000, property of Shawn Solomon.

Police Prosecutor, Shawn Gonzales objected to bail on the basis of the nature, gravity and prevalence of the offence and the penalty the offence attracts if the defendant is found guilty.

Murray was remanded to prison until March 20, 2017.
