City Magistrate Judy Latchman on Thursday remanded a man to prison for the murder of a 30-year-old miner.
Simon James was not required to plead to the charge which alleged that on January 15, 2017 at Kamaka, Moruca Village, North West District (NWD), he murdered Robert Ferreira called ‘Bobby.’

The unrepresented man was remanded to prison until January 23, 2017 and will appear before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan. Reports indicate that Ferreira and two friends, who had travelled to the village, were hanging out when an argument broke out among the group of men.
The argument quickly escalated, and one of the men broke a bottle and stabbed Ferreira to his leg. The injured man was rushed to the hospital, but it was too late.
