The body of a man, who was fished out of the Church Street trench, Georgetown on October 13, remains unidentified.
Police sources revealed that nothing matching the man’s appearance came up in the missing persons’ file. The body appears to be that of a male of mixed race descent in his late 30s. Police said a post mortem cannot be conducted until the body is positively identified.
The body was observed floating in the trench by children who were engaged in various recreational activities at Merriman’s Play Park and alerted adults, who summoned the police. It was shortly before 16:00h on Thursday last when the children made the discovery.
The body was fully clothed in grey and brown trousers, a gold-coloured shirt, footwear and gold-plated wrist watch, did not have any visible marks of violence and was lying face-down when found.
Sleuths reported that nothing was found on the body to indicate the identity of the man but noted that the body was seemingly ‘fresh’.
