Chanderpaul, Bravo give Windies presence in top 20

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CMC) – Veteran left-hander Shivnarine Chanderpaul and rookie stroke-maker Darren Bravo are the only two West Indies batsmen ranked in the top 20 of Test cricket. In the latest ICC rankings released on Sunday, Chanderpaul had jumped two places to ninth while the left-handed Bravo dropped one place to 20th.
Chanderpaul, who has played 137 Tests and Bravo, who has played just 13, will have the opportunity to increase their ranking when they face Australia, England and New Zealand later this year.
Bravo plundered 949 runs last year at an average of nearly 50 while Chanderpaul chalked up his 23rd and 24th Test centuries.
Sri Lankan left-hander Kumar Sangakkara leads the rankings, narrowly ahead of South African Jacques Kallis.
In the bowling rankings, speedster Fidel Edwards is the highest placed West Indies player at 24th with captain Darren Sammy lying 25th.
South African Dale Steyn leads the rankings well ahead of Pakistani off-spinner Saeed Ajmal who has moved into second.
