Visiting Chinese delegation pays courtesy call on President

AFTER strengthening ties with Guyana through the inking of major deals today, the Chinese delegation led by China’s Asst. Commerce Minister, Li Rongcan paid a goodwill courtesy visit on President Bharrat Jagdeo. The delegation was accompanied by Chinese Ambassador to Guyana Yu Wenzhe on the visit at the Office of the President and used the occasion to present a gift to the President showcasing China’s national animal the panda.
The delegation visited Guyana for the Eleventh Session for the Guyana/China Joint Commission on Economic Trade and Technical Cooperation which saw agreements for the expansion in the area of health care, transportation, training and culture.

Signatories to the agreements included Foreign Affairs Minister Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett; Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh and Minister Li Rongcan.
