Bail refused for man accused of severing wrist

GLENRICK Blair (no address given) was remanded to prison yesterday on an unlawful wounding charge.
He was accused, before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, of having on March 5, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Jaipaul Sureshpaul, with intent to maim, disfigure or cause him grievous bodily harm.

Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail for the prisoner, citing the seriousness of the offence and said the victim is still hospitalised.
The prosecutor said the accused and the virtual complainant have had problems for over a period of time and Blair chopped off the other man’s right wrist and left ring finger.
The case will be called, again, on March 17.
