DWAYNE Philadelphia, 45, of Lot 599 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was sentenced to six months imprisonment yesterday, after he pleaded guilty to simple larceny.
Before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, the convict admitted that, on February 24, he stole a washing machine, valued $30,000, property of Rafeek Hamid.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said the thief was employed, as a handyman, by the virtual complainant when he removed the appliance.
The prisoner told the court that he worked for Hamid many days, and after being refused payment, he took the machine.
