The President must use his Climate Change contacts with individual nations to elicit technology, grants and investments. We need to pursue assistance from individual nations for projects than can be tied to Climate Change mitigation and development aid. These nations have the financial and technical, including alternative energy capabilities that we need. Such assistance could be tied to our need for Energy, Water Management, infrastructure, echo-tourism etc, all job-creating ventures under CC mitigation.
Guyana is a poster child, if not a test site for Wind and Solar power for its interior regions. Its rivers for Hydro-Power. Its agriculture for bio-fuels and food production. We must point out our natural resources, their potential and what it will take to exploit them. This is needed if we are to attract and justify overseas investment and aid. Time to make Guyana the Green Economy Model for developing nations. Time to push the “Green” revolution forward. We need more agreements like “Norway” or ones like the recently reported Amazon Company investment with its local and government partners and “green” focus. We cannot just wait for Global funds, which will be subject to international wrangling and delays.
