Wheelchair bound brother of MP Murray robbed

SEVENTY-ONE-YEAR-OLD handicapped pensioner, Mr. Vivian Murray was robbed of his pension book and $4,400 last week Thursday.

The septuagenarian was in a wheelchair along Capoey Public Road on Essequibo Coast when he was attacked.

The brother of People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR Member of Parliament (MP), Mr. Winston Murray said the robbery has left him in shock.

He said he never expected a man of his age, who has only one foot and is wheelchair bound, would be such a victim.

Murray said he was moving his wheelchair manually and a teenage lad offered to assist him.

It was while pushing him that the robber suddenly put a hand into his shirt pocket, stole the vouchers and money and ran away.

Murray said he shouted for help but no one went to his assistance.

He has since reported the incident at the Police Station and the Social Security Office at Anna Regina, also on Essequibo Coast.

Murray said he usually spends the old age pension to buy food.
