THE Alliance For Change (AFC) extends its warmest greetings and best wishes to all Guyanese, particularly our Hindu brothers and sisters, at home and in the diaspora, as they celebrate Diwali 2026, the Festival of Lights.

Diwali is a time of spiritual reflection and renewal, reminding us of the enduring triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. It’s timeless message resonates deeply with the challenges and opportunities facing our nation today.

As Guyana continues along its path of development, we must ensure that the light of progress reaches every community and every household. We must choose inclusion over division, accountability over complacency, and service to the people over the pursuit of power.

Our national wealth and opportunities must be shared fairly, so that no Guyanese is left behind.

As families and communities light their diyas this Diwali, the AFC encourages all Guyanese to reflect on three important commitments:

Unity of Purpose: Building a Guyana in which every citizen, regardless of race, religion, political affiliation or circumstance, enjoys dignity, equal opportunity and a sense of belonging.

Good Governance: Promoting transparency, accountability and integrity in public life, ensuring that leadership serves the people and that public resources are managed in the national interest.

Prosperity for All: Ensuring that Guyana’s unprecedented oil and natural resource wealth translates into tangible improvements in the lives of all citizens, through better opportunities, stronger communities and a higher quality of life.

Diwali reminds us that even the smallest flame can dispel darkness. May this festival inspire renewed hope, compassion, understanding and a collective commitment to building a more just, inclusive and prosperous Guyana.
