The left-hander explained the process of the for the WJL draft.
“The process involved completing my registration and submitting details of my cricketing journey, including my performances and experience from my tour in England.
I also submitted videos showcasing my abilities and talent as a cricketer, along with answering a few questions as part of the application process. After going through the selection process, I was fortunate enough to be selected
When I received the news, I was extremely excited, proud and grateful. It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase my talent,” explained Lomar, who has 14 centuries with his highest being a triple ton at Blairmont, East Bank Berbice, as a 14 year old.
According to the talented Lomar, over 2000 young cricketers for all over the world applied for the draft and he was the only player from Guyana to be selected.
“Being the first player from Guyana to be selected for this tournament, one of my main goals is to showcase my talent, represent my country with pride and make Guyana proud.
“I also want to use this opportunity to demonstrate that there are many talented young cricketers not only in Guyana but throughout the Caribbean who deserve opportunities to shine on the international stage.
“I hope my participation will inspire other young cricketers to believe in themselves, work hard, and continue pursuing their dreams.
“I know that I still have a lot to learn and many goals to achieve. I will continue to work hard, remain disciplined, stay humble and trust the process.
“My ultimate dream is to become a successful professional cricketer and one day represent Guyana and the West Indies at the highest level.
“I believe this is only the beginning of my journey, and I am excited for what the future holds.” said Lomar, who prefer white ball cricket.
Lomar has one sister; Dalany, who has always been part of his journey, as are his parents Lon and Marquita Seecharran.
“My parents have been my biggest supporters. I am also grateful to my sister, family members, coaches, and teammates who have encouraged and supported me throughout my journey.
“Their guidance sacrifices and belief in me have played a key role in my development. I appreciate everyone who continues to push me to become better.” continued Lomar, currently a student at Morgan’s Learning Centre where he disclosed that cricket is played.
“I balance academics and cricket through proper time management and discipline. I understand that education is just as important as pursuing my cricketing dreams. I make an effort to complete my schoolwork, dedicate time to studying and remain committed to my cricket training. Both require discipline, consistency, and hard work.
“One of my most memorable moments was being selected to represent Guyana. It was an incredibly proud and unforgettable moment because representing my country is something I have always dreamed of. Having the opportunity to wear Guyana’s colours, compete at that level and represent my country is an honour I will always cherish.
“It made me even more determined to work hard, continue improving and make my country proud,” added Lomar who loves the cover drive.
“My love for cricket started at a young age. I was about four years old when I developed an interest in the game through watching and playing cricket at home. What started as something I enjoyed gradually became a passion.
“As I grew older, I became more dedicated to improving my skills, learning about the game, and challenging myself to become a better cricketer.”
Lomar’s favourite cricketers are Brian Lara and Nicholas Pooran.
“I admire Brian Lara for his exceptional batting talent, consistency, and incredible records.
“I also look up to Nicholas Pooran because he is an outstanding wicketkeeper-batsman, like myself; his explosive batting, excellent wicketkeeping skills and confidence on the field is beyond inspiring.
“Both players inspire me in different ways, and I hope to develop similar qualities as I continue my cricketing journey.
“As a young cricketer, I would like to see more opportunities being given to developing players so they can showcase their talent and grow in the sport.
“I would like to thank God for his blessings, guidance and protection throughout my journey.” Lomar concluded.
