THE stage is set in Essequibo for what promises to be a landmark conclusion to the Lotto/Let’sBet One Guyana T10 Tapeball Blast.
After a gruelling nationwide trail featuring 80 teams, just four unbeaten contenders remain. On Sunday, October 11, the Anna Regina National Stadium will host a blockbuster finals day, with national supremacy and a staggering $2 million grand prize on the line for the last team standing.
Berbice heavyweights GrillMaster Sip N Play All-Stars, three-time semi-finalists Mahdia (Movements Family), Lusignan Bulls DTP II, and SVC/AJM CC will put their unblemished records on the line in a tournament that has captured the country’s imagination.
“This has truly been a tournament to remember,” said tournament director John Ramsingh. “We are witnessing the absolute pinnacle of local tapeball where the best collide on our biggest stage.”
Beyond the $2 million crown, the runners-up will take home $1 million, while each losing semi-finalist earns $500,000, adding to the $500,000 already secured as respective zone champions.
Sunday’s action will also break with domestic convention as FL Sport pioneers umpire TV reviews in local tapeball. Utilizing a review system for critical run-out, stumping, and bowling-action calls—bolstered by the addition of international umpire Zahid Bassarath to the officiating panel—the tournament is aiming for professional precision.
“This innovation represents a major step forward for local tapeball cricket, ensuring high-stakes matches are officiated with professional precision,” Ramsingh added.
Individual brilliance will command heavy rewards courtesy of Regal Super Centre. The tournament MVP drives away with a brand-new motorbike and $150,000, while the leading run-scorer and wicket-taker each pocket $100,000 and a television set.
The tournament also offers cash prizes for Player of the Final ($75,000), Super Strike Rate ($50,000), and Best Economy Rate ($50,000).
Action bowls off at 13:00h with a five-over women’s clash between Tapakuma (Elite Warriors) and Capey United.
Semi-final I follows at 14:00h as GrillMaster battle Mahdia, before Lusignan Bulls meet SVC/AJM CC at 16:00h.
After an 18:00h President’s Exhibition Match, the two semi-final victors will square off under the lights at 20:00h to crown the new One Guyana T10 champion.
