A 26-year-old gold miner has been charged with the murder of a man at 14 Miles, Arakaka Backdam, North West District.

Joshua James, of 14 Miles, Arakaka Backdam, was charged on Friday with the murder of Morvin George, following the September 29 incident.

The charge is one of murder, contrary to common law.

James was arrested on September 29 and subsequently charged on Friday, October 2, 2026.

He appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh at the Port Kaituma Magistrate’s Court via Zoom, where the charge was read to him.

James was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison.

The matter was adjourned to November 10, 2026.
