GBTI expands ATM network with new AC Hotel location

THE Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry Limited (GBTI) has expanded its ATM network to the Ogle area with the installation of a new machine at the AC Hotel Georgetown Guyana, providing another access point for cash and other banking services for residents, businesses and visitors.

The new ATM is positioned within the rapidly developing East Coast Demerara corridor and is particularly accessible to travellers using the nearby Eugene F. Correia International Airport. The AC Hotel is located in Ogle, approximately 0.5 kilometres from the airport and has 152 rooms, according to the hotel’s official information.

The installation forms part of GBTI’s continuing expansion of its electronic banking network as commercial and residential activity increases along the East Coast corridor.

The bank has historically placed emphasis on expanding access to automated banking services. GBTI says it pioneered ATM banking in Guyana, launching the country’s first ATM at its Water Street branch in 1994. Its current network includes more than 28 ATM locations across Guyana, according to the bank.

The latest installation also extends ATM access to an area serving a growing concentration of businesses, hospitality facilities, residents and travellers.

The AC Hotel location has particular relevance for international visitors. GBTI’s ATM services support Visa and Mastercard cards, while the bank’s card portfolio includes Mastercard debit cards and Visa products designed for local and international use.

The new installation also carries a distinctly Guyanese visual identity, featuring images of the Canje Pheasant, Guyana’s national bird, the Harpy Eagle and the Giant Water Lily, the country’s national flower.

The imagery is part of GBTI’s initiative to incorporate Guyana’s natural heritage into its ATM and card designs, placing elements of the country’s biodiversity in locations frequented by both Guyanese and international visitors.

The choice of the AC Hotel also places the initiative within Guyana’s expanding tourism and hospitality landscape. The Marriott property describes itself as being located minutes from Eugene F. Correia International Airport and provides accommodation, dining and other facilities for business and leisure travellers.

GBTI’s ATM expansion follows other recent additions to its network, including an installation at Mon Repos in September 2026. The Mon Repos machine was reported as the bank’s 24th ATM and formed part of its continuing expansion of convenient banking access along the East Coast Demerara corridor.

The bank has also previously expanded its network with an ATM at Royal Orchid Mall on Mandela Avenue, saying such installations are intended to bring banking services closer to residents, businesses and visitors in developing commercial areas.

As Guyana’s economic activity and visitor arrivals continue to generate demand for accessible financial services, the expansion of ATM infrastructure provides another means of bringing everyday banking closer to communities and key commercial and tourism locations.
