–multi-billion-dollar infrastructure push to prepare nearly 6,000 house lots in Region Six

SIGNIFICANT progress is being made at the Providence–Glasgow Housing Development on the East Bank of Berbice, Region Six, as the government moves ahead with its plan to open up thousands of new house lots for families in the region.
The development is part of a multi-billion-dollar government investment in infrastructure at Providence–Glasgow and Overwinning, being carried out through the Ministry of Housing and the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA). Together, the two areas are expected to deliver nearly 6,000 house lots.
Works currently underway include land clearing and the construction of road and drainage networks, which form the backbone of any new housing scheme.
Access roads will allow allottees and contractors to reach their lots, while proper drainage is essential to protect homes and infrastructure in the low-lying coastal region.
Once completed, the infrastructure will pave the way for thousands of families to access their lands and begin building their homes.
The Providence–Glasgow and Overwinning projects add to the Ministry of Housing’s ongoing efforts to expand access to land and home ownership across the country, with Region Six among the areas benefitting from new housing development.
