HOME Affairs Minister, Oneidge Walrond, on Monday, conducted a series of unannounced visits to key units of the Guyana Police Force (GPF), examining daily operations, administrative processes and service delivery.
Walrond visited the Guyana Police Force Academy, the Criminal Record Office and the Police Credit Union as part of efforts to maintain direct engagement with police ranks and assess the functioning of key departments.

She was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner ‘Operations’ Errol Watts; Director of the GPF Academy, Senior Superintendent Sonia Herbert; Commandant of the GPF Academy, Georgetown, Superintendent Halley Smith, and other officials.
During the visits, the minister toured the facilities and interacted with police officers and administrative personnel while observing staff carrying out their duties.
The exercise also provided an opportunity for Walrond to examine existing workflows and gain a first-hand understanding of the working environment and day-to-day operations within the respective units.
Discussions with personnel focused on their duties, operational challenges and areas where improvements could be made to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
The Ministry of Home Affairs said the visits form part of ongoing efforts to maintain direct engagement with GPF ranks and strengthen oversight of key police departments.
The ministry said emphasis remains on efficiency, accountability and improved service delivery as the force continues to carry out its responsibilities to the public.
