PADMA De Lima has been appointed Managing Director of Guyana Breweries Inc. (GBI), effective October 1, as ANSA McAL moves to strengthen its leadership and operations in the Guyanese market.
The appointment was announced by ANSA McAL on Wednesday and comes as the regional conglomerate continues to expand its investment and commercial activities in Guyana.
De Lima has more than 17 years of experience within the ANSA McAL Group and has held leadership positions across consumer goods, construction, sales, marketing and general commercial management.
She currently serves as General Manager of ANSA McAL Distribution Inc. in Guyana, where she has been credited by the company with strengthening several of its leading brands, increasing sales, improving market execution and developing relationships with customers and business partners.
Her previous positions include Divisional Head – Food and Consumer, where she was responsible for the Procter & Gamble portfolio, Head of Sales – Key Accounts, and roles within the Group’s Trading and Construction businesses.
ANSA McAL Sector Head – Beverage, Adrian Sabga, said De Lima’s experience and knowledge of the group’s operations would support Guyana Breweries as it pursues further growth.
“Guyana Breweries has a strong team and a significant opportunity ahead, and Padma brings the experience, commercial leadership and deep understanding of our business to help take the company forward,” Sabga said.
He said the company remained committed to working with Guyana and creating value through its business operations and partnerships.
De Lima’s appointment is also being positioned within ANSA McAL’s broader “Growing with Guyana” initiative, which the company describes as a long-term commitment to investment in people, communities and national development.
ANSA McAL said it has operated in Guyana for more than 30 years and currently employs more than 430 Guyanese directly. The company said it contributed US$11.3 million in corporation tax over the past five years and has undertaken major investments, including the US$54.2 million Chateau Margot Mall and Lifestyle Centre.
The group also said it pledged GYD$20 million in 2026 towards education and youth development grants.
Through the ANSA McAL Foundation, 16 Guyanese have also been recognised to date through the Anthony N. Sabga Awards, Caribbean Excellence.
As Managing Director, De Lima will oversee Guyana Breweries’ operations, with responsibility for strengthening its teams, customer relationships and business performance.
Established in 2021, Guyana Breweries is part of the ANSA McAL Group and CARIB Brewery’s regional sales and distribution network.
