HIS Highness (HH) Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, and His Excellency (HE) Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, held an official talks session at the Amiri Diwan Tuesday morning.
At the outset of the session, HH the Amir welcomed HE the President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana and the accompanying delegation, wishing the relations between the two countries further development and growth. HH the Amir expressed his hope that the visit would contribute to broadening the prospects for joint co-operation in a manner that serves the interests of both countries.
For his part, HE the President of Guyana expressed his thanks and appreciation to HH the Amir for the warm reception and generous hospitality, affirming his country’s keenness to strengthen co-operation relations and advance them toward further development and growth.
During the session, the two sides discussed relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen and develop them, particularly in the investment fields, in addition to discussing a number of topics of mutual interest.
HH the Amir and HE the President of Guyana also held a bilateral meeting, during which they exchanged views on the most prominent current issues and developments.
The session was attended by Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Khulaifi, Chief of the Amiri Diwan; HE Saad bin Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs; Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; as well as a number of ministers and senior officials.
On the side of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, the session was attended by Hugh Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Safraaz Ahmad Shadood, Guyana’s Ambassador to Qatar; Marcia Mezan Sharma, Director of Presidential Affairs at the Office of the President; George Andrew Hallaq, as well as other members of the official delegation.
HH the Amir hosted a luncheon in honour of HE Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, and the accompanying delegation.
During Tuesday, HE the President of Guyana arrived at the Amiri Diwan, where an official reception ceremony was held for His Excellency.
