THE Ministry of Housing–Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) is warning members of the public about a fraudulent notice being circulated online, which falsely claims that a one-day allocation drive for turn-key homes in Providence and Great Diamond, East Bank Demerara, was set to take place.
The bogus flyer, designed to closely mimic official Ministry branding, claimed that “today is the last day” for the allocation of turn-key homes and directed high- and middle-income applicants to visit the Ministry of Housing building to secure a unit.
In a statement, CH&PA said the notice was not issued by the Ministry or the Authority and urged the public to disregard it entirely.
“The Ministry of Housing–Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) advises the public that the notice being circulated regarding the allocation of turn-key homes in Providence and Great Diamond is FALSE and was NOT issued by the Ministry or CH&PA,” the statement said.
Members of the public were advised to rely only on information shared through the Ministry and CH&PA’s official communication channels, and to be cautious of unverified notices circulating on social media and messaging platforms.
The Authority did not indicate whether any action was being taken to trace the source of the fake notice.
