In an absolutely fantastic atmosphere last night at the Guyana National at Providence, the Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) romped to an emphatic 8-wicket win over the Jamaica Kingsmen with 16 balls to spare to remain unbeaten from five matches.
Led by an entertaining 54 from 35 balls with five fours and three sixes from Rahmanullah Gurbaz, an unbroken 46-run partnership between skipper Shai Hope, who made 39 with two fours and a six and Shimron Hetmyer, who scored 30 from 17 balls with two fours and a six, the home team galloped to 160-2 from 17.2 overs in reply to the Jamaica Kingsmen’s 159-7 off 20 overs
Hassan Khan top-scored with an unbeaten 62 from 29 balls with two fours and sixes in a losing cause for the Kingsmen.
Maaz Sadaqat and Kirk McKenzie started for the Kingsmen in the first match of the Guyana leg, and Dwaine Pretorius struck in the first over, trapping McKenzie LBW for one at 4-1.

Keacy Carty hit Nabi for a couple of sixes before Pretorius had him LBW for 18 at 37-2 in his third over, to the delight of the packed stands, which created a sea of Red.
Sadaqat clipped Shamar Joseph for four in his opening over after he had deposited Pretorius for a disdainful six.
After the six-over power-play, the Kingsmen were 46-2
Usman Khan greeted Romario Shepheard with a gloriously executed cover drive that reached the boundary like a shot from a gun, to post the 50 in the seventh over to silence the partisan crowd.
When left-arm spinner Khary Pierre bowled Khan (10), playing a loose drive to a flighted delivery at 61-3 in the 9th over, the raucous crowd were back on their feet and dancing in the stands.
Guyanese all-rounder Keemo Paul (13) was run out at 83-4, and when off-spinner Mohammad Nabi produced a beauty to bowl Skipper Rovman Powell for a first-ball duck, the Kingsmen had lost three wickets for 22 runs, and the Warriors were large and in charge in their own backyard to the unadulterated joy of their adoring flag-waving fans.
21-year-old Pakistani Sadaqat (4X1, 6X1), who was dropped by usually safe Shimron Hetmyer at long-off off the bowling of Imran Thair on 29, fell to Pierre five runs later for 35.
Hassan Khan and Odean Smith added 55 important runs with Joseph, charging in with genuine pace on one of the better tracks at Providence; the Guyana and West Indies pacer had clocked 145 km with a searing yorker to Khan.
When the menacing Joseph missed another yorker, Khan clipped the full toss into the green stand before clobbering Tahir for three consecutive sixes in an over that cost 21.
Smith (13) was run out at 142-7 in the 19th over before Khan hit Joseph for two fours and a six in the last over, bringing the total to 62 runs scored in the last five overs.
Pretorius and Pierre had two wickets each for the Warriors, who were off with all guns blazing, as Dindyal dominated the opening stand of 46 in just 4.3 overs.
Dindyal, who made 51 from 50 before losing his place in the team for batting too slowly, returned at the expense of Matthew Nandu and batted with plenty of flair and aggression on a lightning-fast outfield.
The 21-year-old from the historic GCC, Bourda, dumped Khan for six before Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who leaves on Sunday along with Nabi for Afghanistan duties, hit left-arm seamer Jediah Blades for two fours.

Dindyal greeted Paul with an elegantly pulled shot and followed it up with a classy four.
Dindyal stroked fast bowler Hunain Shah for a six and four before Shah had the last laugh, bowling Dindyal in the fifth with a well-directed yorker.
Dindyal’s demise; 33 from 32, with a four and four sixes, made way for Shai Hope to partner Gurbaz, and the pair brought up 50 in 5.2 overs.
Gurbaz, in his first match in this year’s CPL, celebrated with a six and fours in the last over of Kemo Paul in the power-play, which cost 17 and at the end of six overs the Warriors were 65-1.
Gurbaz deposited left-arm wrist spinner Vitel Lawes for a six and a four and reached his 50 from 31 balls with five fours and three sixes.
Sadaqat removed Gurbaz at 114-2, and Shimron Hetmyer and Hope tore into the attack, especially Lawes, who leaked 36 runs from his three overs.
The Warriors’ next assignment is against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on Sunday from 15:00hrs.
