IT is simply mind-boggling that not some pieces but all the pieces of the clothes of Nazi Government under Chancellor Adolf Hitler that the world knows about have come from all the Western governments in the world and all the Western media houses in the entire world.

Then there are the hundreds of war movies and hundreds of books describing how despicable Hitler and his government were. The world today has no alternative explanations and analyses of the nature of the German Government between 1933, its rise, and 1945, its untergang (downfall).

The largest lacuna in world history is why the German Government hounded down the Jewish race. The world has no analysis from the German side about this important European detail and perhaps will never have it. Which academic from which country is going to offer a critique of the Jewish race in 19th and 20th century Germany?

Two things the war movies and the anti-Nazi books have sermonized the world with since 1945. One is that the soldiers of Nazi Germany were extremely cruel. The second one is that the Nazi leaders were people who tried to be cultivated humans through classical movies and the opera but these cultural traits failed to civilise them.

There is no scope in this particular column to dwell on the question of cruelty. Suffice it to say that the most barbaric and sadistic armed forces of any country is from Israel in the 21st century. Before I move on, I want to emphasise my point – the present Israel government and its armed forces are crueler than anything the world has seen under the Nazi Government.

Let’s get back to classical music and the opera. Many war movies portrayed Nazi generals as dressing up to go to the opera and an underling would bring death warrants to be signed. So, the post-war global generation found the Nazi leadership a psychological enigma – how could you appreciate classical music and the opera and perpetuate genocide? It is simply incomprehensible.

When you love the opera, classical music, poetry, medicine, animal protection, the theatre, journalism, law, etc, then it is impossible for such a mind to accept genocide. It is simply incredible to comprehend how people that are embedded in the things I noted above could deny genocide when they see it every day in their lives.

Does the leadership of present-day Germany listen to classical music and attend the opera? I cannot see how they can do that when the German Government is the second largest protector of the current Israel Government and the Israeli Government has been committing genocide since 2025 against a distinct race of people – the Palestinians.

I was amused when I read that the embassy of the European Union in Guyana has formed an entity titled, Classical Music and Opera Association. Well, well! What do you make of that? The head of the body is the current EU Ambassador to Guyana, Italian diplomat, Luca Peirantoni. I cannot wait to meet two persons in this entire world – the Canadian High Commissioner to Guyana, Sebastien Segouin (can never pronounce that man’s last name; maybe its Freudian – I don’t like Macron) and Mr. Luca Peirantoni.

I would give anything to hear the answers to the questions I would ask these two men. I think to hear them answer my questions would be one of the most absorbing moments in my long political career. There are too many questions to enumerate here in this column. Space would not allow it.

I would like to ask both men if it is psychologically possible for a person to love classical music and the opera yet turn a blind eye to genocide and refuse to even recognise that it is happening. Can life produce such a person? Did such humans exist in Nazi Germany?

I read in the newspapers that the association will be putting on another operatic event at Saint George’s Cathedral. I am going to attend, wear my Palestinian flag and my shirt which reads – “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” I will not be arrested in the cathedral because I live in a democratic country. Hope I can say the same for Canada and Italy.
