CORPORATE Guyana came out in strong support of the Lusignan Golf Club’s Greensome Golf Tournament on Sunday, as 68 players took to the lush greens and sweeping fairways of the Lusignan Golf Course for a day of exciting competition, teamwork and family entertainment.

The tournament, which brought together golfers in a spirited battle for the top positions, saw Mahendra Bhagwandin and Max Persaud emerge as the overall winners after recording a gross 34, handicap 4 and net 30.

Troy Cadogan & Avinash Persaud (Gross 32, HC 2, Net 30) finished second ahead of Mike Mangal & Rohan Albert (Gross 34, HC 4, Net 30), Andre Cummings & Maxim Mangra (Gross 35, HC 4, Net 31), Vishal Dhanai & Jim Pecks (Gross 34, HC 2, Net 32) and Nazim Khan & Royston Prince (Gross 37, HC 5, Net 32).

The best gross went to the pairing of Persaud & Cadogan.

Member of the victorious duo Mahendra Bhagwandin said the partnership with Max Persaud was key to their success, despite a slow start.

“We complimented each other in the round. We started out slow, but in the end, it worked out,” Bhagwandin said. “We were pushed to our limits by the duo of Troy Cadogan and Avinash Persaud, who were in our group. All credit to them, as they brought out our best.”
Bhagwandin explained that the competition remained tight right down to the finish, with three groups requiring a countback to determine the eventual winners.

“Three groups had to go on the countback to determine the winner. Fortunately, myself and Max came out on top,” he added.

The tight leaderboard made for an exciting finish, with the top three pairs all recording net scores of 30.
