MASHABO Village in Region Two is strengthening its tourism potential by developing the Lake View Park, a community-driven facility funded through the Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS).
The recreational site, nestled alongside the village’s scenic lake, is emerging as a key attraction as Region Two expands its tourism offerings, particularly across its riverine communities and hinterland villages.
According to the Community Service Officer (CSO) of Mashabo, Decasey Williams, the facility was established with LCDS resources to attract visitors and create new opportunities for the local economy.
“Since we put down this area within Mashabo, it has been a major boost to our village economy, to our tourism, one of our boosting tourist attraction sites, along with our beautiful lake,” Williams noted.
The CSO explained that the development forms part of the village’s first, second and third phases of LCDS investments, with additional improvements planned for the site.
Beyond providing residents with a space for recreation and relaxation, the Lake View Park is positioning Mashabo to benefit from increased visitor activity, while showcasing the village’s natural environment and community-based development.
The investment demonstrates how LCDS funding is being translated into tangible community assets that can stimulate economic activities, support tourism and create new avenues for sustainable development.
As Region Two continues to unlock the tourism potential of its lakes, rivers and rural communities, Mashabo is positioning itself as a destination where environmental resources and community development can work together to drive local economic growth. (DPI)
