MINISTER of Public Utilities and Aviation, Deodat Indar, met with senior representatives of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) on Wednesday to discuss key energy and electricity infrastructural projects, including Guyana’s flagship Gas-to-Energy initiative.
The courtesy call by IDB Country Representative, Lorena Solórzano-Salazar, also focused on planned transmission and distribution upgrades to the Demerara-Berbice Interconnected System (DBIS) and grid-tied renewable energy initiatives.
The discussions form part of ongoing engagement between the Government and the IDB on projects aimed at strengthening Guyana’s energy infrastructure and improving the reliability and capacity of the national electricity grid.
The IDB delegation included Chief of Operations, Ivan Gaviria; Team Leader, Dr Malaika Masson; Energy Consultant, Trevion Pyle, and newly appointed Energy Specialist, Leticia Scofield Miglio.
Director General Alfonso De Armas and Permanent Secretary Vishal Ambedkar also participated in the meeting.
The engagement underscored the continued collaboration between Guyana and the IDB in advancing major energy-sector investments as the country moves to expand and modernise its electricity infrastructure.
