RESIDENTS of the remote community of Masakanari/Gunns in Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) have benefitted from a specialised medical outreach that brought a wide range of essential healthcare services directly to the community.

The outreach was conducted by the Regional Health Services of Region Nine as part of ongoing efforts to expand access to quality healthcare, particularly for residents in remote and hinterland communities.

During the exercise, healthcare professionals provided outpatient consultations, dental services, ultrasound examinations, pharmacy services, Maternal and Child Health (MCH) care, environmental health services, vaccinations, physiotherapy and audiology assessments.

Residents also benefitted from laboratory services, eye testing and spectacle services, while vouchers were distributed to eligible beneficiaries.

The outreach forms part of the Government of Guyana’s wider efforts to ensure equitable access to healthcare services across the country, regardless of geographical location.

It also advances President, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali’s mandate to strengthen healthcare delivery and ensure Guyanese living in remote communities have access to critical services closer to home.

The Regional Health Service expressed appreciation to the healthcare professionals who participated in the exercise, commending their dedication and professionalism in delivering services to residents of Masakanari/Gunns.
