TWO men were stabbed to death following an altercation on Water Street, Georgetown, on Friday morning, with a 29-year-old salesman now in police custody.
Dead are Wreford Vincent Trim, called “Junior Browne”, 23, a vendor of Durban Backlands, Georgetown, and Tyrone Captain, 36, a labourer of Eversham, Corentyne, Berbice, and Beepat Squatting Area, Sophia.
According to police, the incident occurred about 09:30 hrs and involved the two men and the 29-year-old suspect from Industry, East Coast Demerara.
Police said both Trim and Captain sustained stab wounds during the altercation.
Trim was subsequently found on Commerce Street, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
Captain was taken to the GPHC, where he later succumbed while receiving medical treatment.
The suspect was arrested and remains in police custody. Investigators also recovered a knife suspected to have been used during the incident.
Police have obtained CCTV footage, which forms part of the ongoing investigation.
The bodies are awaiting post-mortem examinations.
