THE International Masters Cricket (IMC) 45-over, Over-60 World Cup bowls off in Ontario, Canada, on Sunday with 14 teams vying for supremacy.
The 14 participating teams are: Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, India, England, Scotland, West Indies, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Wales and an Emerging World X1.
Seven matches are slated to be played simultaneously on Sunday’s opening day before the top two teams clash in the final, slated for the Dansville ground in Mississauga on Sunday, August 23.
The tournament will see former international umpires, Jamaican Steve Bucknor and New Zealander Billy Bowden officiating alongside, among others, Guyana-born Suresh Budhoo, who is also the tournament umpires’ coordinator. Budhoo previously officiated in IMC Over-40 World Cup in 2024 in South Africa and other tournaments in Sri Lanka and Australia
Bucknor brings a wealth of experience with 130 Tests and 208 ODIs under his belt, while Bowden has officiated in 104 Tests, 259 ODIs, and 32 T20s.
Budhoo pointed out that a total of 17 umpires from seven different countries have been selected to umpire in the tournament.
The other umpires are: Azad Hosein, Sush Mahalanobis, Victor Sebastian, Rohan Shah, Kantharatnam Shantikumar, Danny Singh, Rohan Weatherspoon, Evan Watkin, Darryl O’Sullivan, Peter Tate, Bob Szpadt, Martin Wale and Saravanakumar Venkatesan.
