CAC Games 2026…

GUYANA’S boxers all bowed out at the quarter-final stage of this year’s Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games 2026 in the Dominican Republic.

Their campaign in the ‘squared circle’ came to an end after pugilist Colin Lewis and Terron Wintz both lost their quarter-final bouts on Tuesday evening at the Combat Pavilion.

Colin Lewis, coming up against Suriname’s Domelzo Schet in the 69 kg fight, lost the five-round affair on points.

He lost on the judges’ scorecards in the opening rounds, 29-28 and 30-27, before edging the third round 29-28. He then lost the fourth round 30-27 before narrowly clinching the final round 29-28, but still went down 3-2 in the contest.

Lewis had edged Barbados’ Peter Murray in his round of 16 encounter to book a place in the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Terron Wintz was knocked out in 2 minutes and 55 seconds into round one of his quarter-final battle with Puerto Rico Angel Llanos.

Wintz reached the quarter-finals after overcoming St Lucia’s Kyghan Mortley by a points decision.

Guyana middleweight champion boxer Desmond Amsterdam lost his quarter-final bout to Venezuela’s Deigo Pereyra four rounds to one. He lost the first round on the judge’s scorecard 30-27 but won the second round 29-28. He went on to lose the remaining rounds, 29-28, 30-27, and 29-28, to bow out at the quarter-final stage.

Amsterdam began his campaign with a round-two knockout of Dominica’s Daniel Shillingford.
