ACTING Town Clerk, Candace Nelson, accompanied by City Engineer, Colvern Venture and Acting Chief Constabulary Officer, Mr. Baveghems, conducted a site visit to the Water Street area to assess concerns involving vendors and a business owner.
The recent visit allowed the parties to present their respective concerns directly to municipal officials while giving the Mayor and Councillors of the City of Georgetown an opportunity to evaluate the situation firsthand.
According to the Council, the engagement forms part of its effort to ensure that matters affecting vendors, businesses and members of the public are addressed fairly, impartially and in accordance with the law.
The Council said it will continue consultations with the relevant stakeholders as it works towards a practical and mutually acceptable resolution.
The process, it noted, will seek to protect the legitimate interests of vendors and businesses while maintaining public order and ensuring the orderly use of public spaces within Georgetown.
The Mayor and Councillors reiterated their commitment to balanced and lawful decision-making in addressing issues involving commercial activity and public access across the capital.
