THE Government of Guyana will make the complete primary and secondary school curriculum available online through the Guyana Digital School from the start of the new school term in September.
This announcement was made by Minister of Education, Sonia Parag, during the recent release of the 2026 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) results, where she said the expanded digital platform will provide free access to curriculum content for learners from Grades One to 11.
The move represents the next phase of the Guyana Digital School initiative, which was officially launched by President Dr Irfaan Ali in December 2025 as part of the government’s wider education transformation agenda.
“We will take another significant step forward by making the complete primary and secondary curriculum available online,” Parag announced.
She explained that the digital school is intended to complement, rather than replace, classroom instruction by giving students access to curriculum-based resources outside of school hours.
“It is a school that will have all of the curriculum and content from Grades One to 11, and it will serve as a reinforcement to what is being taught in the classroom, free of cost to every single child in Guyana,” the minister said.
Parag made the announcement while highlighting the government’s continued investments in the education sector, noting that expanding digital learning resources forms part of a broader strategy that also includes constructing new schools, rehabilitating existing facilities, increasing access to textbooks and providing cash grants to help families meet educational expenses.
The September rollout will complete an expansion plan that has been progressing throughout the year.
Earlier this year, Parag had disclosed that the Guyana Digital School already offered content for Grades 10 and 11, with material for Grades Seven to Nine being added before work began on the primary curriculum. The completion of the full curriculum will now provide online learning resources spanning every grade from primary through the end of secondary school.
Fully funded by the Government of Guyana, the initiative is available free of cost to participating CARICOM countries and is already serving more than 27,000 students across the region, including in Barbados, Grenada, Belize, and St Kitts and Nevis.
Developed in response to lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Guyana Digital School delivers live interactive classes aligned with the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) curriculum and is designed to ensure learning can continue during emergencies while expanding access to quality educational resources, particularly for students in remote and underserved communities.
