New digital feedback system now live to improve healthcare services

– QR code, hotline and patient advocates among channels introduced

THE Ministry of Health has rolled out a modernised patient feedback system aimed at improving the quality, accessibility and efficiency of public healthcare services across Guyana, with patients now able to share their experiences through a digital platform, hotline and in-person advocates.
The initiative, which was highlighted by President Dr Irfaan Ali on his official Facebook page, forms part of the Government’s ongoing commitment to building a more responsive and patient-centred healthcare system.
At the centre of the initiative is a simple digital feedback platform that allows patients to submit comments on the care they receive at health facilities nationwide.
Patients can access the feedback form by scanning QR codes displayed on posters at Ministry of Health facilities or by visiting the Ministry’s online feedback portal. The process takes less than a minute to complete and allows users to submit feedback either anonymously or with their contact information.
The platform is designed to encourage honest feedback while making it easier for citizens to report both positive experiences and areas requiring improvement.
The Government said every response will help strengthen healthcare delivery by identifying service gaps, improving patient care standards, supporting evidence-based decision-making and promoting greater accountability throughout the public health system.
In addition to the digital platform, patients can report concerns by calling the Ministry’s Health Hotline on 227-4357 to raise issues such as long waiting times, poor service or the unavailability of prescribed medication at health centres and hospital pharmacies.
The Ministry of Health has also expanded its Patient Advocates Programme, with advocates stationed at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) and several regional health facilities. These officers assist patients, help resolve concerns, improve communication between patients and healthcare providers, and collect complaints.
Meanwhile, quality audit teams continue to monitor healthcare delivery by reviewing patient records and assessing whether hospitals are meeting established clinical standards and waiting-time protocols.
The patient feedback initiative complements the Government’s wider healthcare modernisation programme, which includes the implementation of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system at GPHC.
The digitised system replaces paper-based records and streamlines patient management, while future plans include the introduction of a citizen health application that will facilitate appointment bookings and improve the overall patient experience.
In promoting the initiative, the Government is encouraging all patients to share their experiences, noting that every voice contributes to building a stronger and more efficient public healthcare system.
“Your feedback is heard. Your experience matters. Together, let’s build a stronger healthcare system for all of Guyana,” the Ministry said.
