MINISTER for the Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation, Zulfikar Ally, says a rapidly changing national landscape and the transformation taking place across Guyana, require a skilled and adaptable workforce capable of meeting the country’s evolving needs.
The minister made this known while delivering remarks at the recent GOAL graduation, during which he stated that investments in people and other capabilities remain critical as the country experiences growth across multiple sectors.
“As the Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation, I am particularly proud of what this initiative means for the development of Guyana’s human resources across our Public Service and throughout the wider economy,” he said.
Ally noted that Guyana is undergoing significant changes, with new industries emerging, existing sectors expanding and technology increasingly influencing both public- and private-sector operations.
“We are in unprecedented transformation. New industries are emerging; existing sectors are expanding. Technology is reshaping how we deliver services and how business operates,” he said.
Ally related that these developments have placed greater emphasis on building a workforce equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to support the country’s continued development.
According to the minister, qualifications obtained through various initiatives extend beyond individual achievement and should be viewed as contributions to national progress.
“The qualifications you receive today are not simply personal achievements, they are investments in Guyana’s future,” Ally said.
Meanwhile, the minister indicated that he was pleased to know that the graduates represent a broad cross section of professions that will be essential to the country’s future.
These included educators, engineers, healthcare professionals, information technology specialists, entrepreneurs and future public servants.
Against this backdrop, Minister Ally encouraged the graduates to continue developing their skills and applying their knowledge to make meaningful contributions within their workplaces and communities as Guyana’s transformation continues to unfold.
