New Government Service Centres set for Regions Seven, Nine and 10

WORKS are ongoing to establish Government Service Centres in Regions Seven, Nine and Ten to deliver faster, more convenient access to a range of public services.

Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation, Zulfikar Ally, said that since President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali’s instruction to have service centres operational in Region Seven, teams are working in Bartica and Kamarang, with efforts focused on securing buildings and installing the necessary infrastructure.

During a recent cabinet outreach in the region, President Ali announced that service centres will be established.

“We are working very hard to ensure that the building, everything is acquired, and of course, the various agencies have to be outfitted with all the necessary cables, internet…We are working overtime to get that done,” he said.

The location for the service centre has already been identified, and construction works are underway.

“The teams are there building out already, so it is a matter of installing the equipment and training the staff who will be working there,” Minister Ally pointed out.

Meanwhile, the ministry is in the process of securing a suitable building to house the service centre in Region 10.

Minister Ally added that an appointment-based system will be introduced, allowing residents to schedule visits and receive services more efficiently.

“We really want to bring the modernisation of services for the public, one that is very simple, transparent and efficient,” he said.

Government Service Centres bring together multiple agencies under one roof, allowing citizens to access a variety of services without having to visit several locations.

Minister Ally encouraged residents to take advantage of the facilities when they become operational. He noted that they are designed to improve convenience and reduce waiting times for members of the public. [DPI]
