- will miss CAC games
NINETEEN-YEAR-OLD Jonathan Van Lange has been named as a replacement for Trinidadian wicketkeeper/batter Amir Jangoo in the Guyana Amazon Warriors’ squad for the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League, set for July 23 to August 1 in Guyana.
Jangoo has been picked to play for the West Indies Test squad which will face Sri Lanka in Antigua.
The West Indies under-19 batting all-rounder scored a century on his First-Class debut for the Guyana Harpy Eagles against West Indies Academy last May before scoring a half-century in the final of the West Indies Four-Day Championship against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in a losing cause.
Van Lange has also been named in the Guyana Amazon Warriors squad for the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League, billed for August 7 to September 20.
The senior men’s table tennis team and two-time Olympian Chelsea Edghill have officially secured their spots for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games following a gritty qualifying campaign in the Dominican Republic over the weekend.
Van Lange, Shemar Britton, Elishaba Johnson and Niran Bissu secured their place for this summer’s showpiece following a clinical display in the group stages.
CAC will also be in the Dominican Republic from July 24 to August 8.
Van Lange said while he is looking forward to participating in the CAC Games, both tournaments will be held during the same period and he felt that cricket was the best option for him at this stage.
“I was a bit surprised with GGSL selection but I chose cricket over Table Tennis. I intend to put my best foot forward and gain as must experience from rubbing shoulders with the senior guys” said the multi-talented DCC right-hander.
