A 30-year-old teacher was killed on Tuesday morning after a minibus overturned and plunged into a drain along the Diamond New Interlink Road, East Bank Demerara.
Dead is Tineka Hicks of Great Diamond, East Bank Demerara.

Police said the accident occurred at about 08:30 hrs and involved minibus BAH 4679, which was being driven by a 52-year-old resident of Diamond.
According to preliminary investigations, the minibus was proceeding north along the western driving lane when the driver allegedly lost control while attempting to overtake another vehicle.
Investigators said the road surface was wet due to heavy rainfall at the time of the accident.
The vehicle reportedly toppled onto its right side, skidded in a north-westerly direction and ended up in a drain on the western side of the roadway.
Several occupants sustained injuries, while Hicks became trapped inside the wreckage.
Emergency Medical Technicians responded to the scene, where Hicks was examined and pronounced dead.
Her body has been taken to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
The six other occupants, including three students and three adults, were taken to the Diamond Regional Hospital, where they were treated and discharged.

News of Hicks’ death sent shockwaves through the education fraternity.
Minister of Education, Sonia Parag, visited the grieving family and extended condolences on behalf of the Ministry of Education.
“We extend our deepest, most heartfelt condolences to Ms Hicks’ loved ones, her colleagues and her students. Her dedication to her classroom and the lives she touched will not be forgotten,” the Minister said.
Police investigations are ongoing.
