KNOWN to many Guyanese as an energetic performer and fitness enthusiast, Melissa “Vanilla” Roberts is now stepping into a new chapter of her professional journey, adding lifestyle entertainment to her growing list of ventures.
She is among the driving forces behind a new initiative dubbed, “First Fridays with Axis 22”, a live music and social experience that is set to debut at the Black Magenta in Georgetown, today.
A press release stated that for years, she has built a reputation in the entertainment industry as a recording artiste and performer while simultaneously inspiring many through her commitment to health and fitness. Now, she is seeking to channel that experience into creating upscale entertainment opportunities aimed at mature audiences seeking more than the traditional nightlife experience.
The event is being staged in partnership with Black Magenta, a collaboration Vanilla said was inspired by the success of the live entertainment experiences already being cultivated at the venue by herself and her band, the release said.
Recognising a growing appetite for quality live music and sophisticated social gatherings, she saw an opportunity to build on that momentum while introducing a new concept tailored to professionals, entrepreneurs, creatives and lovers of live entertainment.
The release added that the event, which is being organised through Axis 22, and managed by Kross Kolor Records, is expected to offer patrons a blend of live music, networking opportunities, premium hospitality and an elegant social atmosphere.
According to Vanilla, the concept was developed to provide a space where professionals, entrepreneurs, creatives and music lovers can gather in a sophisticated environment that encourages meaningful interaction while enjoying quality live entertainment.
“We are not simply trying to host another event,” she explained. “We want to create an experience that is stylish, memorable and consistent that people can look forward to every month,” she was quoted as saying.
The June 5 edition will function as an introductory evening and preview of the larger First Fridays concept scheduled to officially roll out in July.
Patrons attending the inaugural gathering can expect live performances from Axis 22, curated entertainment, visual presentations and an atmosphere designed to appeal to a professional and mature crowd.
The event will be hosted at the Black Magenta, on Camp Street, in the compound which houses the Georgetown Club.
Guests are encouraged to dress in smart casual attire, and arrive early as Roberts and her team seek to introduce what they hope will become a new staple on Georgetown’s entertainment calendar, the release added.
