CHAIRMAN of Region Two, Devin Mohan, says the Essequibo Coast is experiencing unprecedented growth and transformation as Guyana celebrates its 60th Independence Anniversary, with development now visible across communities throughout the region.

During an exclusive interview, Chairman Mohan described the milestone as a moment of reflection on the sacrifices made by Guyanese ancestors, while also highlighting the rapid progress underway under the leadership of President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali and the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) Government.

He said the celebration of Independence goes beyond patriotism and symbolism, noting that true national pride is reflected through service to communities, unity among citizens and collective efforts to build a stronger Guyana for future generations.

According to Mohan, Guyana continues to stand as a powerful example of unity in diversity, where people of different cultures, religions, and backgrounds work together toward national development and prosperity.

The Region Two Chairman pointed to major advancements occurring throughout the region, including significant road rehabilitation works, improved drainage and irrigation systems, expanded healthcare services, better educational facilities, housing developments and enhanced recreational and sporting infrastructure.

He noted that opportunities are also increasing for farmers, fisherfolk, entrepreneurs and young people as government investments continue to reach communities across the Essequibo Coast.

Mohan emphasised that development in Region Two is no longer simply a promise but a reality being witnessed daily by residents, with improvements in infrastructure and public services positively impacting livelihoods throughout villages and communities.

He further stated that the government remains committed to ensuring that development reaches every household while empowering citizens and creating opportunities for economic and social advancement.

As Guyana marks sixty years as an independent nation, Mohan called on citizens to continue embracing unity, patriotism, discipline and determination while working together to build a brighter future for generations to come.

He expressed confidence that Guyana’s future remains promising and urged citizens to continue moving forward together as “one nation, one people, one destiny.”

Mohan said that he is excited at the very many developments that are currently ongoing in Region Two, all geared at improving the livelihoods of Essequibians.
