• Tournament gets PSA accreditation

DESPITE the absence of defending champion and two-time Women’s World Masters Champion Nicolette Fernandes, enthralling squash is anticipated when the Guyana Squash Association’s (GSA) 2026 ENet Senior National Squash Championships serve off at the National Racquet Centre (NRC) on June 3 from 17:00hrs.

In last year’s National Elite finals, Fernandes defeated Mary Fung-a-Fat and Daniel Ince defeated his brother Samuel Ince.

Fernandes’ absence means there will be a new Women’s Champion. The tournament will run from next Wednesday to the following Sunday.

For the first time in its history of Championships, the GSA has received accreditation from the Professional Squash Association (PSA).

The accreditation awards players who get past the round of eight, ‘International points,’ which will benefit players like Fung-a-Fat, Samuel Ince Carvalhal and Danile Ince who compete on the professional stage.

Among the ‘big guns’ expected to be in action in the women’s category are Mary-Fung-a-Fat, Ashley Khalil, Kirsten Gomes and Larissa Wilshire while in the men’s category, fans can look out for competitive squash from the likes of Alex Arjoon, Jason Ray Khalil, Samuel Ince Carvalhal and Danile Ince.

All of the matches will be contested at the NRC on Woolford Avenue with semi-finals and finals on Saturday June 7, 2026. Matches begin at 09:00am.
