THE Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC), on Tuesday, conducted a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) training session for employees of Excel Guyana Inc., aimed at promoting a more inclusive and respectful workplace culture.
The session, held at the company’s training facility, provided staff members with insights into the core principles of diversity, equity and inclusion, while encouraging discussions on practical ways to strengthen inclusive practices within the organisation.
According to the ERC, participants were engaged in interactive discussions focused on fostering respect, workplace harmony and productivity through greater awareness and understanding of diversity issues.
Before the commencement of the training, ERC staff were briefed on Excel Guyana Inc.’s Health and Safety Policy, including emergency response procedures and evacuation protocols, to ensure preparedness in the event of an emergency.
The session also served to educate participants on the constitutional mandate and functions of the ERC, particularly its role in promoting harmony, mutual respect and good relations among Guyana’s diverse ethnic groups.
In a statement following the exercise, the Commission commended Excel Guyana Inc. for demonstrating a commitment to workplace inclusivity, employee awareness and a strong culture of safety.
The ERC said initiatives such as the training programme contribute to the development of a more unified and socially conscious society as Guyana continues to advance economically and socially.
