MINISTER within the Ministry of Public Works, Madanlall Ramraj visited Lots 1–3 of the Palmyra–Moleson Creek Highway Expansion Project in Region Six, where he assessed the progress of works on the ground.
During the visit, the minister engaged with the project team, including representatives from the supervisory engineering firm, as well as contractors China Road and Bridge Corporation and Vishwa Samooja Private Ltd., to ensure that timelines, quality standards, and key deliverables remain on track. He was accompanied by a technical team from the Ministry of Public Works.
“Projects of this magnitude must move forward in a timely manner and to the highest quality standards. Continuous checks and monitoring are critical, and the government remains fully committed to ensuring that every aspect of this development is executed efficiently and responsibly,” the Minister stated.
The four-lane highway project, part of the PPP/C Government’s expansive infrastructural agenda, has been allocated $15.1 billion in the 2026 budget to support its advancement.
Highlighting the wider impact of the investment, the minister noted, “This is a people-centred development initiative aimed at transforming Region Six and strengthening its economic potential. Roads are not just physical structures, they are lifelines. They create opportunities for businesses, improve connectivity, and enhance access to essential services, ultimately improving the quality of life for all Guyanese.”
