‘She told me comeback or regret it’ Father speaks out in Fyrish tragedy

— reveals desperate message before daughter killed by mother, infant injured as probe ongoing

THE father of the seven-year-old Corentyne child who was killed on Sunday has broken his silence, claiming that he was given minutes to return home before the tragic incident unfolded.

The community of Fyrish was left in shock after a 26-year-old mother allegedly suffocated her seven-year-old daughter and attempted to take the life of her one-year-old son before attempting suicide.

Seven-year-old Isabella Dabadial

Dead is Isabella Dabadial, a pupil of the Cooper Primary School, of Fyrish Road, Corentyne. Her one-year-old brother, Ethan, survived the incident but sustained injuries.

The alleged suspect is their mother, Sarah Elizabeth Shivpersaud, a 26-year-old ten-day worker of the same address.

According to police investigations, Shivpersaud reportedly told investigators that she had been experiencing significant emotional distress after her husband left the home several days prior and refused to return.

She claimed that on Sunday morning, April 5, 2026, she woke up with no food in the house, which allegedly led to the fatal act.

Police said the woman also admitted to attempting to strangle or otherwise suffocate her infant son, but was unsuccessful.

Investigators further revealed that following the incident, Shivpersaud reportedly slit veins behind both of her ankles in what is believed to have been an attempt to take her own life.

She and the two children were subsequently taken to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where Isabella was pronounced dead on arrival. Shivpersaud received medical treatment and remains in stable condition under police guard.

On Sunday morning prior to the incident, 26-year-old Sarah Shivpersaud posted a picture with herself and her two children on her Facebook page

Hours before the incident, the woman reportedly posted a photograph of herself and her children on Facebook with the caption: “Me and my babies last pic! I’m sorry! May God forgive me!”

FATHER’S ACCOUNT

The children’s father, Kirwayne Dabadial, an agronomist attached to the Albion Estate, said he had left the home approximately two weeks ago after discovering what he described as inappropriate messages on the woman’s phone.

According to him, the couple had been together for eight years and experienced recurring issues.

“She always used the children to manipulate me to get me to stay,” he alleged.

Dabadial further claimed that on Sunday, the woman sent him a message giving him a short timeframe to return home.

“She messaged me and told me she gave me fifteen minutes to get back home or I would regret it. Then she called me and showed me the children lying down — it looked like they were sleeping — and told me it was too late,” he said.

He noted that he immediately contacted persons nearby, who later made the discovery.

The grieving father said he is now struggling to come to terms with the loss of his daughter.

FAMILY DISPUTES CLAIM

Meanwhile, relatives of the woman have disputed claims that there was no food in the home.

According to family members, they spoke with Shivpersaud on Sunday morning and were told that the family had breakfast and that she intended to prepare pumpkin and rice for lunch.

Her mother, Lalita Brijlall, also confirmed that she had spoken with her daughter prior to the incident.

Police investigations are ongoing.
