WORKS on the Anna Regina Stadium in Region Two are nearing completion, following a comprehensive inspection on Friday by Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Madanlall Ramraj, alongside Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Charles Ramson Jr., and Minister within the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Steven Jacobs.
During the visit, the ministers reviewed ongoing works and received updates on the project’s progress, as the facility moves closer to being delivered as a modern sporting venue for the Pomeroon-Supenaam region.
The upgraded stadium is being outfitted with a modern players’ pavilion to provide improved changing and preparation areas, along with fully equipped commentators’ booths to support professional broadcasting.

Expanded seating arrangements are also being installed to accommodate larger crowds, while upgraded sanitary facilities and improved access and circulation areas are expected to enhance safety and overall user experience.
Upon completion, the state-of-the-art cricket facility is expected to host regional and national competitions, creating more opportunities for athletes in the region to develop and showcase their talents. The venue is also intended to serve as a multi-purpose space for community events and cultural activities.
Minister Ramson, during the consideration of budgetary estimates earlier this month had said that the facility will be opened in March, noting that the project forms part of the government’s aggressive nationwide sports infrastructure drive.
Five stadiums are scheduled to be commissioned this year, along with additional indoor facilities. The Bayroc National Stadium was commissioned in Linden earlier this month by President, Dr Irfaan Ali.
