THE bandits seem to have shifted operations to the Esssequibo Coast, yet the police seem not to be aware of this. Notwithstanding the recent arrests, the response has been poor to date, given the layout of the Coast. I cannot imagine why there has not been a better response from the administrators of the police force. Are they waiting for people to be killed?
Having the army there is a waste of time as we have seen how corrupt they are and no amount of apology from Bess can change that. The army is inhabited by some crooks and thieves. The police force is not far behind too and the daily new bears this out. The question then is where do the people turn to for protection? Perhaps it’s time to bring back a system of vigilante and let citizens deal with thieves and bandits when they are caught. Where do we go from here? Where are all the writers? Why the silence? Are they all frustrated by the ineptitude or just waiting to be attacked?
