NCN’s CEO among seven Guyanese honoured for helping to preserve Indian culture

THE Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and World Hindu Day were celebrated on Friday evening at the Swami Cultural Centre with vibrant cultural performances, inspiring speeches, and community spirit.

 

The event featured traditional songs, poetry recitals, and dances that showcased the richness of Indian traditions, while scholars and leaders emphasis0ed the importance of preserving Hindi as a living language.

The High Commission of India featured the felicitation of seven noteworthy Guyanese and their contributions to preserving the Indian culture through their crafts. They are Mr. Neaz Mohamed Subhan- NCN’s CEO; Mr. Hemraj Kissoon- Chairman of the Indian Commemoration Trust; Mr. Sasenarine Sankar, President of the Indian Commemoration Trust; Ms. Rajkumarie Singh- Principal of Hindu College; Mr. Suresh Singh- Pandit of Better Hope Mandir; Ms. Roshini Khushi Boodhoo- Popular Indian classical & contemporary dancer; and Dr. Kumar Sukhraj- Vice-President of the Guyana Central Arya Samaj.

 

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is observed annually on January 9 by the Republic of India, to mark the contribution of the overseas Indian community towards the development of India.
