THE Private Sector Commission (PSC) yesterday hosted a one day workshop for the Chambers of Commerce at Duke Lodge, Kingston, Georgetown.
PSC Chairman, Mr. Gerald Gouveia, said it was towards forging a working relationship with other organisations countrywide.
He said the deliberations would focus on strategic plans for the future and, by the end of the day, the participants were expected to certainly develop better relations through dialogue.
Gouveia said they will also discuss areas of concern because he believes enough information is not being disseminated to the various stakeholders who were present yesterday.
The programme said objectives were to:
* preserve, propagate and encourage the principles of private enterprise and
production, through personal and collective initiatives and endeavour to bring together all sectoral, small businesses and large corporate organisations;
* serve as means for planning, coordinating and monitoring the various
resources within the Private Sector, with a view to improving the economic
situation in Guyana and encourage members to implement practical
programmes for such improvement;
* bring about a greater understanding, appreciation and acceptance of role of
private initiative, enterprise and savings;
* establish programmes for improving all the skills and talents within the Private Sector and the economy as a whole and
* encourage the establishment of a society based on the principles of equality of opportunity and freedom from prejudice and reward.
