THIRTY-THREE-YEAR-OLD Omar Williams, of Abane Straat, ‘K’ Flight, Paramaribo, Suriname, has been charged with the murder of Sheldon Cheddie called DJ Cheddie, who was killed in an execution-style murder earlier this week.
The accused appeared before Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday and was remanded to prison until October 18.
The indictable charge said the prisoner unlawfully killed 37-year-old Cheddi on Monday, September 9, in Tucville, Georgetown.
Police Corporal Bharat Mangru, prosecuting, told the court that the victim, of Lot J 946 Jackson Street, Tucville, was sitting with friends at the place called ‘Turning Point’ when Williams shot him several times.
The prosecutor said the shooter was chased and apprehended by public-spirited citizens while the injured man was rushed to Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Prosecutor Mangru requested three weeks for the investigations to be completed and the magistrate set the October date for report and fixture.
