High school student charged with assault on friend

A STUDENT of Carmel High School was placed on $80,000 bail yesterday when he appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman on an assault charge.

Nineteen-year-old Tyrone Escourse, of Lot 640 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, is charged with having assaulted Keyole Williams, on September 4, in West Ruimveldt, so as to cause him actual bodily harm.
After Escourse pleaded not guilty, Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, told the Court that the two teenagers are friends but, that day, while they were at the football ground in West Ruimveldt, the defendant pushed a bicycle on Williams, causing him to fall to the ground.
As a result the latter suffered abrasions to his left rib cage and leg.
There was no objection to bail and the case will be called, again, today.
