Thomas United masters pick up win in goodwill series in Suriname

GUYANA’S Thomas United Masters football side on Saturday captured a 2-nil win over Surinamese Masters side Sportivo as part of their goodwill series.

 

Anthony Stanton stepped up in the 5th minute of play to give them the lead before Christopher Barnwell Sr doubled the advantage from the spot 10 minutes into the second half.

 

The team will now play West Boys in Paramaribo before returning home.

 

Guyana’s Thomas United is using the goodwill series to prepare for the upcoming Legends Republic Cup.

 

Guyana is hosting the inaugural Legends Republic Cup at the GCC Ground Bourda from February 19-22, 2026.

 

The international tournament will feature teams from Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, French Guiana, Suriname, USA, Canada, St Vincent Grenada and St Lucia.

 

The international teams will battle in the over 40 and over 50 categories.

 

The over 50 winning side will pocket $2,500 USD and the over 40 $3000 USD.

 

The team is managed by Paul D’Andrade and sponsored by Banks DIH through their I-cee brand and Guyana Brewery Inc under Coors Light beer brand.
