THE Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha has announced that Shri Krishna Janma Ashtmi – the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Krishna will be celebrated today and it invites all mandir leaders to organise special Satsanghs to commemorate the occasion.
Janma Ashtmi brings to memory that great day when Shri Krishna Bhagwan appeared in the home of Vasudeva and Deokie. At that time the cruel King Kansa had all infants under siege. Janma Ashtmi brings to the congregation Lord Krishna’s revelation of the Shrimad Bhagwad Gita which he delivered in the battlefield of Kurukshetra. The message of the Bhagwad Gita advances the varying yogas – Gyaan, Karma, Sankhya and Raj yoga.
Lord Krishna, in Chapter 4 of the Bhagwad Gita, said: “Whenever righteousness declines and unrighteousness prevails I incarnate myself to protect the good and to destroy the wicked and to reaffirm virtues and religion, I am born from age to age.”
According to the Sabha, ‘when we retreat into the divine arms of Lord Krishna we do so with the confidence that he will infuse within us inner calmness and predominate our thoughts so that our ideas and judgment will receive divine guidance.”
It noted that Bhagwan Krishna has laid down four conditions for man to reach the divine realm. Reaching that arena is in effect ascending to one’s own blissful state.
These conditions are: “Fix your mind on me; Be devoted to me; Sacrifice for me; and Bow to me.”
Hindus will resolve on this day to pursue diligently the path set by Bhagwan Krishna which is the way forward to a happy, inspired and blissful life.
Special satsangh will be held at Dharmic Rama Krishna Mandir in Barr Street, Kitty at 17:30hrs and at Shri Krishna Mandir, Seaforth Street, Campbellville at 19:30hrs today. Service will be conducted by Pandit Jagmohan Persaud.
